Now you can have high performance and all around versatility in one bike.

Because of  FreedomRyders amazing range of adjustment (more than any other handcycle), in just minutes you can easily adjust your body position and cranks for racing performance or great all around recreational riding.  Craig Blanchette is a famous athlete with many national titles in wheelchair racing and handcycling.  While racing the "S-1" model,  he has proven the performance capabilities of the "S" series to be top performers.  (Check out the photos below of Craig racing the S-1).
Many potential handcyclists think they want a race bike.  "Long seat" style racing handcycles are fine for racing but are very narrowly focused.  They're not well suited for recreational riding because they are too low to give the rider good personal visibility.  When you're in a completely prone position it is very hard to move your head around to see your surroundings and you have to constantly look "through" the cranks to see where you're going.  When the new "S" model is adjusted more upright for recreational riding  your personal visibility on the "S" series is not only much better and more enjoyable but its much safer for auto drivers visibility.
The long seat designs can't turn a tight circle, which is very important while recreational riding.   All of our FreedomRyders can turn in a tighter circle than any other handcycle on the market.  Also, because of our unique frame design its the only one that can do this without twisting up your legs.
Their frames are much longer, obviously, which has a negative effect not only when turning but it allows for frame flex.  Craig has ridden every kind of full long seated race bike and he has found that even the full carbon fiber frames flex too much while pedaling.  (Just ask him!)  He comments on just how "solid" and without flex our handcycles are.  This means greater efficiency with more power getting to the cranks for higher performance.
A long seat race bike is usually ordered with either a fixed body/crank position or with very limited adjustment.  You should be a fairly experienced racer before ordering one.  If you don't get it right the first time there's no changing it.
Their extremely low frame clearance also causes problems while road riding.  So this limits the type of roads and places you can and should ride them.
If you are a serious full time racer in the upper range of your class, a longseat racing bike with a fixed frame costing up to five-figures may be the best choice.  If you are a competitive, recreational rider who likes to ride fast and race occasionally, the new  “S” series Sportbikes are an excellent choice.  Whether its racing or recreational fitness training, they give you the performance and versatility to do both.

This is important: Compare their "standard" issue components, their "optional" components and their price with ours and you'll see that our new "S" series Sportbikes along with the rest of our FreedomRyder handcycles will beat them every time.

Each model is affordability priced to offer incredible value compared to any other handcycle on the market.   Do your research when comparing other handcycles.  Be sure to ask exactly what brand and version of components come with the "standard" price.  Check everything from the tires/wheels/hubs, the derailleur components etc., and if it comes "standard" with a disc brake like ours do.
Call us with any questions.
Its all in the details!

FreedomRyder consistently beats the competition with the best quality offered at the best price.

All models come standard with an Avid BB7 disc brake.

This is many thousands of dollars less than any comparably equipped “Longseat” handcycle.  Do your research.  No one can beat this price!

The “SE” model has Shimano Ultegra Di2  electronic shifting, high quality 20" 406 alloy  rear wheels and 650 alloy front wheel and of course a disc brake and a parking brake.   A great bike for the fast riding enthusiast that wants the ease and convenience of the Shimano Ultegra Di2  electronic shifting but doesn't need extra expense of the carbon fiber wheels, priced at $7495.

The “S” model has the same chassis, adjustable riding position, seat etc. and the adjustable crank width.  Its outfitted with 20" 406 alloy rear wheels, 650 alloy front wheel, Shimano 27 speed components, and of course a  disc brake and park brake.

No matter which model you choose, each one is an amazing bike with great performance at an unbeatable price!
PictureShown with the wide axle
We offer a choice of two axle widths.
With 20" wheels,
there is no performance sacrifice   "aerodynamically" with either the narrow or wide axle.  It only affects cornering performance.
In fact,  with the 20" wheels lower profile and stiffer design on the wide axle, there's incredible  cornering speed and performance to be gained.
Taller wheels are less aerodynamic and will flex in fast corners, which limits your cornering speed and limits performance.
Passing in the corners is great fun!
Ask Craig about this!

Most longseat racers run a narrow axle believing they're gaining better wind resistance.  This is not true.  Their taller wheels are still exposed directly to the wind.  With the new 20"  wheel designs and the wide axle you're tripling your gains: wind resistance, weight reduction and better, faster cornering performance.
The competition just can't match the speeds and performance with this combination.

Be faster in the corners as well as the straights!
(The narrow axle allows for tight width clearances if needed.)

PictureThis is what the wind sees
The new "S" series design presents a very small profile to the wind.  "Longseat" designs with their double frame tubes are wider and have more wind resistance.  Our single beamed frame design has less frontal area and a shorter wheelbase which creates a stiffer frame for less flex, which makes for
better performance.   Add the 20" wheels and this simple clean design makes the whole bike almost disappear.   Craig Blanchette can vouch for its frame stiffness and performance.

PictureC7 Concept carbon 406 wheels
The beautiful 20" C7 Concept 406 carbon fiber wheels with their narrow  shaped rim are the ultimate in aero performance.  Combine that with their lower profile, stiffer design and light weight and you've got a real advantage.

Picture"3 way" head adjustment
In following the design philosophy of the entire FreedomRyder line, the“S” series bikes not only come with our exclusive large adjust- ability range for the cranks and seat, but have two more unique adjustment features for your head and shoulders.  One of them for riding when reclined, is the "3 way" fully adjustable head support system.  Allowing up, down, forward and back and independent head "tilt" position.  It allows you to position your head exactly where you want it.  This is critical when reclined so you can achieve the best vision and most comfortable head position for those longer rides.
The longseat bikes don't have this type or range of adjustment  .

PictureUnique head and shoulder adjustment
The other unique feature is our trick two piece seat back tube.  Combining this with our quick and easy telescoping seat back adjustment lets you custom fit your body to the bike anywhere between a semi upright recreational riding position to an aggressive aero reclined racing position.  This one of a kind curvature adjustment section is critical for positioning your shoulders, neck and head.  The slick system moves independently  from the lumbar cushion and allows you to position your "shoulder to crank" position for the most powerful input and performance.  Most race bikes don't have this extra adjustment and have to resort to shimming with foam pieces.

You'll find its very advantages in attaining the most comfortable head, neck, shoulder, arm and crank posture for the most efficient power application.  More comfort while cranking means more performance.  When fully reclined t
his creates a small frontal area exposed to the wind for the best racing performance.
No other handcycle has this much adjustment.
This versatility allows you to have the best of both racing and recreational styles of riding.

All handcycles in the FRH-1 line come with top quality Shimano components.
A
high quality disc brake comes "standard".  This is an option on most other handcycles.

PictureJust the touch of a button
The “S” series Sportbikes outfitted with the latest in Shimano electronic shifting technology makes a fast bike even faster with lightening quick, positive shifting with just the touch of a button.   The Di2 shifting can be programmed to shift both the top and bottom derailleurs together automatically to select the perfect chain location every time for the best shifting pattern with no gear overlap.  It really takes the thinking out of the job of shifting.  Its like having an automatic transmission!

Another new innovation of ours that comes on this model is our new adjustable T-handle width  design.  We've created the ability to easily change the width of the T-handles to suit your style. By simply changing the length of a bolt and spacer you can change their width to 14"-16"-18" in just minutes.   You can order the bike with the spacing you think you want and if you decide later that its not quite right, you can order longer or shorter bolts and spacers for that custom fit at a very reasonable price.

No matter how you decide to outfit these "S" series models, each one offers unmatched value for performance and quality.

               YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!
