Everyone likes to get the best performance possible, but not everyone wants or needs the compromises required of a race bike which places the rider in a "fully reclined position". This works great for the ultimate in minimum wind resistance, but not only is it hard to see beyond the cranks and sprocket assembly, it's hard to be seen by motorists. Also, they all have a lack of ground clearance. Races are usually held on "closed courses", so this isn't an issue when racing. Not so when riding on public roadways. Something else that's not realized is the extra difficulty in transferring into and out of this extreme position.
If racing is what you want to do full time or even part time, then you must be training on a race bike. This is a serious commitment. If you like riding for fitness and recreation or with your family then you would need another bike to accomplish these needs. Many riders tell us that they want to recline a little bit more than an upright riding position but not all the way back to flat. That's why we have developed the FRH-1R. The FRH-1R offers you the choice of reclining more for better performance, sitting more upright for those times when your riding for fitness and recreation or anywhere in between.
The modified recline of the FRH-1R allows the bike to keep its superb turning radius, nimble handling characteristics, and excellent power delivery. Most of all you will be able to look at the scenery, where you are going and be seen getting there.
The FRH-1R is well outfitted with the highest quality Phil Wood Hubs, Mavic rims and Continental tires along with our 'patented' highly adjustable crank position and shift and brake cable configurations which provide long life, neutral balance and are never in your face.
The FRH-1R is afford-ably priced at $4295, better outfitted and several thousand dollars below most lay flat bikes.
