QUALITY

Brike Int. Ltd. follows three design disciplines.  Simplicity, quality and no compromises.  If you examine our handcycles you will see we practice what we preach.  We always begin by employing the finest quality materials in everything we build.  4130 Chrome Moly tubing, 6061 T-6 Aluminum, tool steel shafting and stainless steel hardware.

All our aluminum parts are clear anodized in R-5 clear to stop corrosion.  Our rear axle is also texturized in a finish that helps to stop surface scratches.  The axle uses CNC milled axle lugs that are machine turned from solid 6061 T-6 aluminum. Inside the threaded lugs we install a special stainless steel thread insert to assure a lifetime of durability.  The lugs are then glued into the axle tube using a special 3M aircraft adhesive. We pin them in place for perfect alignment along the tube.  Before shipping, all our axles are mounted in the rear frame section, then aligned at the factory with the wheels installed to achieve perfect alignment.  With FREEDOM RYDERS exclusive design, the frame and axle are then drilled to receive a special alignment screw that allows the axle to be removed and reinstalled without losing its perfect rear wheel alignment.  This removable axle design allows the frame to be taken apart, which makes for a very small package for shipping the bike to you, as well as when you want to take your bike with you when you travel.  Although this design feature is now appearing on many other handcycles it was developed by Freedom Ryder.

Our seat design is constructed with 6061 T-6 aluminum. The triangle shaped back section is custom contoured to wrap around your body and support your entire back allowing your shoulder blades to rotate freely without contacting the seat while pedaling. We then cover the seat back and seat bottom (using two densities of foam for the seat bottom and back), with the finest foam and nylon fabrics that are UV protected for years of use.

Our 'proprietary' adjustable leg supports have become a standard in the industry.  They are constructed of 6061 T-6 aluminum and then anodized in R-5 clear or powdered coated and then clear coated.  The leg supports use high quality adjustable nylon straps for maximum comfort and years of use.  We use special plastic shims for our leg supports and high quality aluminum clamps where they slide in and out for adjustment.

Handle.jpgOn our T-handles, we CNC the spindles. The spindles are cut from the finest quality tool steel and are then nickel plated for lasting luster and durability. The handles are constructed from a special Delron plastic that is lathe turned to form a custom shape to fit your hands. They are then angled to fit the natural bend of the wrist. For their bearing mounts, the handles are bored slightly off center so the longer end will be heavier and will always rotate downward to the bottom position and be in perfect placement for your grip. FREEDOMRYDER was the first to design these concepts into a T-handle design. We then mount high quality sealed bearings on the spindle shafts for years of use.

Because we weren't willing to compromise, the hydraulic sbdampnr.jpgsteering damper we use between the two piece frame on the "SUPERBIKE STI" and "LC-1" is a very expensive precision piece. It is made of aluminum and is adjustable. We custom build the linkage out of aluminum which allows the damping to be infinitely adjustable from soft to firm while riding. The damper and the rear frame pivot point use high quality spherical ball joints at their axis of rotation.

We then powder coat and oven bake our frames using a 2 or 3 step process.  First we use a base primer for good bonding of the paint to metal.  Then we apply the color coat and on some selected colors we apply a third clear coat for the finest powder coat finish available in the industry.

Our rims are built by Velocity or ALEX RIMS and use a "double walled" design that is extremely strong.

The front hub on the "SUPERBIKE STI" is built by Shimano.

The high quality rear hubs on the "SUPERBIKE" are built by Phil Wood and are of the thread-in design so there is absolutely no play in the rear wheels for optimum performance. The quick release rear hubs on the FREEDOM RYDER Stage 1 & 2 are also built by Phil Wood.

We use Shimano bicycle components on all our bikes. Shimano is the finest name in the industry and FREEDOM RYDER builds the finest handcycle on the market today.  If you want someone else’s word on this just check out our "TESTIMONIALS" page or "WORLD RECORDS" page and you'll find we practice what we preach.
