Superbike LC-1
Shown with optional HED carbon fiber wheels
This is our premium "Body Lean
Steer" model. It features an improved frame design that
mounts our wide cranks in a lower trunk-power position for
maximum power delivery.
Deciding whether body lean steering is the
best choice for you depends upon your injury and abilities. Many find
that they can ride our body lean steered bikes that didn't think so
beforehand. They only take a short time to learn and carving a turn while
leaning into it like a bicycle becomes very addicting. Once a rider
chooses body lean steering we find that they will ride no other design.
(Please call us for advice and we'll answer all your questions.)
The latest LC-1 has four new innovative
features:
1) The LC-1 comes standard with a powerful
Avid disc brake for effortless braking on those long
downhill descents. This virtually eliminates the danger of overheating
the rims and tires which can cause tube failure.
2) All LC-1's come standard with
'Shimano Rapid-Fire shifting' mounted on the T-handles for
convenient hands-on shifting, pedaling and braking. It works so well
you'll wonder how you got along without it.
3)
One reason the new shifter and brake location works so well is because of
our new
cable routing tubes that direct the cables low and rearward
out of the rider's field of view. See Design page.
Another reason is this revolutionary new (patent pending) design
also minimizes cable rotation and flex while pedaling. This prevents
cable fatigue which is the major cause of breakage. A final and very
important aspect of the new design is how it places the weight and flex of
the cables in a completely neutral balanced location
with respect to the T-handles. What this means is that if you ever rode a
handcycle with the cables routed vertically in the conventional way you
would have noticed, as we did when arriving at this new design, that while
the cables are flexing back and forth there is a distinct
imbalance in the T-handles. This imbalanced force
while pedaling eventually causes wrist fatigue. This new cable design
totally eliminates this imbalance and virtually eliminates wrist fatigue,
not to mention how they are taken completely out of your field of view.
If you closed your eyes while pedaling you wouldn't even know there were
cables attached unless you looked!
4) Freedom Ryder handcycles already offer
more adjustability than any other handcycle and we've improved the LC-1 to
allow an even lower and more forward
crank location
for even better power delivery. Remember, with body lean
steering the cranks turn with you so the lower cranks
won't interfere with your legs when turning.
Combine these new features with our popular
new cranks that are lighter, stiffer and more ergonomically correct (See
Design page) than
any others on the market and you end up with the finest lean steer
handcycle on the market today. A real value at $3695 Order form in .pdf format Specifications:
